Websites That Work as Hard as You Do

Your San Diego Business Deserves a Better Website

I built Tasoro Products' e-commerce platform for a San Diego industrial distributor, turning a static product catalog into a conversion engine. In a market where military families judge businesses by their website within days of arriving, a professional site is not optional.

Your San Diego competitors are already investing in SEO. Time to outpace them.

Sound familiar?

Challenges San Diego Businesses Face

Military families decide fast

Service members and their families relocate to San Diego on tight timelines. They need a dentist, mechanic, or contractor within days of arriving and judge businesses almost entirely by their website. A clean, trustworthy site with clear contact info wins these customers instantly.

Surf shops have better websites than most law firms here

San Diego's lifestyle brands (surf shops, wellness studios, outdoor companies) invest in photography-rich web design because their customers expect it. Your B2B company or professional practice is judged against that same visual quality. San Diego consumers do not adjust their expectations based on your industry.

Biotech expects credibility on sight

San Diego's biotech corridor is full of sophisticated buyers who evaluate vendors through their web presence before scheduling a call. A dated site with stock imagery signals that you aren't operating at the level this industry demands.

Before you hire anyone

How to tell if a web designer will waste your money

Google's free tool, PageSpeed Insights, tests any public web page and scores its performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO. One free check is to run it on your web designer's own site, the one project where no client held them back. A low score doesn't prove your site will be slow, but it's a fair thing to ask them about. Also:

No results, just "pretty"

Ask them: "How many leads did your last client's website generate?" If they can't answer, they build decorations, not businesses.

They don't ask about your customers

A designer who jumps straight to colors and fonts without asking who your customers are is building a portfolio piece, not a business tool.

They own your website, not you

If you can't take your site and leave whenever you want, you're renting, not buying. Ask who owns the code, the domain, and the hosting account.

They don't mention SEO at all

A website nobody can find is an expensive business card. If your designer never brings up page titles, heading structure, or how people will actually find you on Google, you'll end up paying someone else to fix all of it six months from now.

Their own site loads slowly

Run their site through Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile. If it scores poorly, ask why, and ask to see the measured numbers from a recent client launch. A designer who tests speed should be able to show you those numbers. I hand every client their measured speed numbers at launch, in writing.

They charge per page

Per-page pricing means every new piece of content costs you more. Good designers price by project scope. You should be able to add a page when your business needs it, not when your budget allows it.

No timeline, no milestones

"It'll be done when it's done" is not a project plan. If they can't tell you what happens week by week, with clear checkpoints, your project will drag for months. Ask for the timeline before you sign anything.

They show you a template and call it custom

Ask them straight: "Is this a theme or built from scratch?" If they hesitate, it's a theme. You won't notice the difference until you need something the template wasn't built for. Then you're stuck.

What I've learned working with small businesses in San Diego

San Diego's visual bar is set by the biotech companies in Sorrento Valley and the lifestyle brands along the coast. Military families judge your website within days of a PCS move, and they compare you to whatever they saw at their last duty station. I built Tasoro Products' e-commerce platform here for an industrial distributor. Whether you operate in the Gaslamp Quarter, Kearny Mesa, or Convoy Street, your site needs to match the expectations of a market that ranges from surf shops to biotech vendors.

Who you're hiring

Why should you trust me?

My agency was a Google ActΓvate success story.

I didn't learn SEO from a blog. I've worked in digital marketing for 17 years, 15 of them running my own agency. Google featured that agency, KREAKTIVE, in a Google ActΓvate story (screenshot, Oct 2026) after I took their ActΓvate digital marketing course. I moved to Colorado Springs in 2023 and brought KREAKTIVE with me (it operated as Digital Marketing Services until 2026). Today I use the same skills to get Colorado small businesses found on Google and AI search.

Choose KREAKTIVE if...

You want a site built and tested for speed, with an SEO foundation, that you actually own. You get a training session on how to update your text and photos yourself. A small change shouldn't mean a call to me.

Choose DIY if...

You need a simple site fast and have time to learn a builder. Works for basic brochure sites, but you'll hit walls on performance and SEO.

Consider an agency if...

You need a large, complex web application with multiple developers. Expect higher costs and longer timelines.

Agency prices come from my comparison of 6 Colorado Springs web design agencies, DMS included: Organic Web Tech, SpearPoint Marketing, Thrive Agency, Infront Webworks and Intero Digital. Read the full comparison.

Common questions

Web Design in San Diego FAQs

Fast load times, mobile-first design, and clear calls to action are baseline. For San Diego specifically, consider bilingual content if you serve areas near the border, military family landing pages if relevant, and neighborhood-specific content for different micro-markets. A generic "San Diego" site misses the people actually searching.

A Local Website launches in 4 weeks and a Multi-City Website in 6 weeks, with first designs in 2 weeks. If you need bilingual content or military family-specific pages, add 1-2 weeks. You work directly with me through the entire process. No account manager relay, no lost-in-translation feedback loops. Just direct communication that keeps the project on track.

San Diego website redesigns typically range from $4,700-$11,200 depending on scope. The biotech and tourism industries set a high design standard here. Military family turnover means a constant stream of new residents searching for services, so your site needs to convert first-time visitors who do not know your brand yet. That is where the investment pays off.

If you serve multiple areas, yes. A business serving La Jolla, North Park, and Kearny Mesa needs separate landing pages for each. San Diego consumers search at the neighborhood level, and a generic city-wide page misses the local intent that drives conversions. I build site architectures that capture search traffic from each micro-market you serve.

Critical. Military families browse from their phones during PCS research, biotech professionals compare vendors between meetings, and tourists discover local businesses on mobile. Over 65% of San Diego searches happen on phones. If your site forces pinch-zooming or takes more than 3 seconds to load, you lose customers before they see what you offer.

Four phases. Discovery (week 1): I learn your business, competitors, customers and goals. Design (week 2): you see first designs and give feedback. Build (weeks 2 to 3): I develop the site, write the copy and set up the SEO. Launch (week 4): final review, training session, go live. On a Multi-City Website the build runs weeks 2 to 5 and launch is week 6.

Local Website launches in 4 weeks (first designs in 2 weeks). Multi-City Website launches in 6 weeks (first designs in 2 weeks). I hit deadlines because I respect your time.

Every website I build is mobile-first, meaning I design for phones and tablets first, then scale up to desktop.

I build custom websites tailored to your business goals. I build on WordPress, Next.js or lightweight HTML, depending on how you'll update the site and what it needs to do, but the design, content structure, and functionality are created specifically for you. Not pulled from a template library.

Yes. The design, the code, the content, the domain, the hosting account. Everything is yours. If you ever want to work with someone else, you take it all with you. Nothing to rent back, no dependencies, no hostage situations.

You get 90 days of post-launch support: bug fixes, small tweaks, questions answered. I also include a live training session (with recording) so you can make basic updates yourself. After 90 days you pick one: Website Care Essential at $197/mo (hosting included), or Hosting & Domain at $230/yr with support at $197/hr.

Templates are designed to look decent for everyone, which means they fit no one in particular. A custom site is built around your customer journey: right messaging, right order, conversion paths for your audience, and no bloated code slowing it down. I speed-test it and give you the measured numbers at launch. Custom sites handle SEO from day one. Templates often need workarounds that can cost you load time, conversions and rankings.
