They treat it like SEO with a new name
AI search work builds on SEO, but it adds work SEO doesn't cover: checking what AI platforms say about you, mapping your topics, and finding the sources AI pulls from. If all you get is the same keyword report with a new label, you're paying for a rebrand.
They promise to "get you into ChatGPT"
No one controls which sources AI models cite. Anyone who promises your business will appear in AI answers is selling something they don't control. It's the same playbook as promising a top Google ranking.
They don't understand how LLMs work
If they can't explain, in plain words, how AI models find, process and cite information, they're guessing.
They have no measurement framework
